a small apartment with a grand piano
The owner of this studio lives in London but wanted a base in the North of Paris.
Purchasing a 35m2 studio that retained the former occupants stamp (old carpets and small rooms) our challenge was to redesign the space to house a grand piano and a book collection.
The non-supporting walls and carpets were removed exposing an old wooden (repurposed) floor providing the basis for the new layout. Selecting the position of the grand piano enabled us to make architectural features of the bespoke designed bookcases, becoming the focal point of the studio. This is an example of how functionality and design combine to provide an attractive yet practical living space.
